There’s never a good reason to drive drunk
If you’re of legal age, there’s nothing wrong with having a drink or two. However, even if you only have one drink, it’s never a good idea to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. Not only can it result in trouble with law enforcement, but it increases the risk of causing an accident.
There’s never a good reason to drive drunk, and here’s why: There are other ways to reach your destination without taking a risk. Consider the following:
- Choose a designated driver: Before you head out for the evening, choose a designated driver for your group. This ensures that no one will take the risk of driving while intoxicated.
- Opt for public transportation: You can take the bus, call an Uber or flag down a taxi. When you do any of these things, you’re not behind the wheel. And that’s a good thing if you’ve been drinking.
- Leave your car behind: Many people drive drunk because they don’t know what to do with their car. They’re afraid to leave it where it is, so they take the risk of driving. Rather than do this, make note of where you’re leaving your car, and come back to get it the next day. Yes, it’s an inconvenience, but it’s better than driving drunk.
If you make the mistake of driving under the influence and are arrested for this crime, you should immediately turn your attention to the legal process and the steps you can take to protect your rights. Use your right to remain silent, and contact your attorney.
The right defense strategy may help you prevent a conviction or at the very least reduce the penalties against you.
